Erica Schreiner
Erica Schreiner is an experimental video and performance artist living and working in New York City. Originally from Oregon, she attended the Art Institute of Portland (2002-2005) where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Graphic Design. While in Portland, Erica became known for her weekly video installations, character performances and involvement in the zine community.Erica began exploring video through her work as the ambiguously fictional character, Skye. In collaboration with filmmaker, Christopher Tenzis, The Skye Project presents the lonely yet hopeful world of the highly developed, plucky, pink-haired girl. The result was an interactive, virtual world consisting of photography-storyboard blogs, movies, performance and poetry.After self-publishing and art directing her own magazine, Luminous, as well several zines, she gave seminars at Portland State University's Pop Culture classes on the art of self-publishing. Then, in January of 2009, Erica went on to create her own publishing label, Analog Cinema, where she published her own book of short stories, Hellos & Goodbyes.In early 2009, Erica lived in the rainforest of Olympic National Park where she sought creative inspiration and wrote her first film script, entitled, Salad Days.Erica moved to New York in August 2009 when she showed her work in Brooklyn at The First Annual Global Goddess Gala at Castle Braid Artist Complex, and in Manhattan at The Elizabeth Foundation for the Arts ArcheTime Film Festival.In 2010, Erica showed a collection of her video installations and stills alongside visual artist, Sol Kjøk in the show Un-Interrupted at the Bill Hodges Gallery in New York City.In June, 2011, Erica had her first solo exhibition at the Bill Hodges Gallery in New York City, entitled: Dessert & Disorders. This year, Erica's videos were also presented in Los Angeles at Downtown Independent as well as the Olympia Film Festival in Olympia, Washington.Erica is currently researching and shooting her next video project.
